Hewlett-Packard Enterprise (HPE) has appointed Bhawna Agarwal as Senior Vice President and Managing Director for its India operations, effective immediately. The company announced the leadership transition on Wednesday, confirming that Agarwal will report to Heiko Meyer, Executive Vice President and Chief Sales Officer at HPE.
Agarwal takes over the role from Som Satsangi, a longstanding HPE veteran who will retire after more than 27 years with the company. Satsangi, who became Managing Director of HPE India in 2016, will remain with the company until the end of July 2025 to facilitate a smooth handover.
What did Bhawna Agarwal say?
“I am honoured to take on the role of Managing Director of HPE India,” said Agarwal in a statement.
“I look forward to building on the strong foundation laid by Som and continuing to drive growth, scaling our impact and innovation in the region. Together with our talented team, we will strive to achieve new milestones, shaping a future reflective of our ambitions and delivering exceptional value to our customers and partners.”
Agarwal joined HPE in 2019 to lead its Compute Business Unit and Growth team. Over the past year, she has overseen the company’s account management and industry verticals in India. A seasoned business leader, she brings more than 25 years of experience across digital startups, media houses, and major consumer technology firms.
The leadership transition comes at a time when HPE is deepening its engagement with the Indian market through strategic programs aligned with the government’s “Make in India” push. Earlier this year, Agarwal and Satsangi jointly celebrated the rollout of HPE’s 6001st ‘Made in India’ server alongside IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw.
HPE, headquartered in Texas and listed on the New York Stock Exchange, provides edge-to-cloud solutions for enterprises. Its India business is one of the largest outside the U.S., with a strong workforce presence and a growing portfolio across cloud, networking, data services, and artificial intelligence.
With Agarwal at the helm, HPE India is expected to focus on scaling cloud innovation, strengthening partner ecosystems, and advancing local manufacturing and R&D capabilities as it seeks to play a larger role in the country’s rapidly evolving digital infrastructure landscape.
