Walmart-owned Flipkart, which operates in the Indian market and competes with Amazon India, has reportedly appointed senior executive Ravi Iyer as Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of its Marketplace division. The role had remained vacant since Sakait Chaudhary, its previous occupant, was promoted to lead the entire Marketplace business earlier this year.
Iyer, who currently serves as Senior Vice President overseeing the Corporate Business Unit, will now take on the additional responsibility of Marketplace CFO. He will continue to handle corporate development, group financial planning and analysis (FP&A), investor relations, and the office of the CEO. His appointment is effective immediately.
According to the Moneycontrol report, the internal communication announcing the development was sent by Sriram Venkataraman, the Group CFO, who had been holding dual responsibilities across both the Group and Marketplace finance divisions since Chaudhary’s elevation. Venkataraman will now continue exclusively in his Group CFO capacity.
“As part of his additional responsibilities, he will work closely with leaders across all the functions and business units and will continue to report to me,” Venkataraman wrote in the memo reviewed by the publication.
As part of the same reshuffle, three senior finance leaders—Kannan Ganesan, Vice President and Business Finance Head; Amit Sood, Business Finance Head for logistics arm eKart; and Ashish Surana, who leads FP&A—will now report to Iyer.
Iyer has been with Flipkart for more than 11 years, while Venkataraman, another company veteran, has spent nearly a decade at the Bengaluru-headquartered firm.
The move comes during a crucial period for Flipkart, which is in the process of shifting its parent entity’s domicile from Singapore to India.
