AI-powered customer engagement platform Exotel’s cofounder and chief operating officer Ishwar Sridharan has quit the company.
“Today marks my last official working day at Exotel. It’s been a little over 14 years, and it’s been the most remarkable and productive professional days of my life. I’m incredibly proud of what we’ve accomplished together-not just a company, but an institution built to last,” Sridharan said in an internal mail to employees.
Inc42 has accessed the mail sent by Sridharan. The development was first reported by Entrackr.
Sridharan cofounded Exotel in 2011, along with Shivakumar Ganesan, Siddharth Ramesh and Vijay Sharma. Prior to that, he worked at companies like Position2, Yahoo and SAP Labs. Overall, he holds an experience of 23 years in various roles.
His departure comes at a time when Exotel has been seeing a lot of top-level exits. The company’s senior director for BFSI, Lalit Khosa, left in December last year, while India business head Angira Agrawal quit in April this year. Its HR vice president Sumanpreet Bhatia also departed in June.
As per their LinkedIn profiles, Khosa is now working as the vice president of sales financial services at LeadSquared, while Agrawal is building a tech startup in stealth mode.
Exotel provides AI-based voice and chat agents to enterprises via its platform for their customer interactions. It also provides tools to track call volume, duration, and other metrics to provide insights into call centre performance.
In July, Inc42 reported that Tenacity Ventures had joined the cap table of Exotel via a secondary transaction. PE firm Sistema Asia Capital sold a part of its stake in Exotel to Tenacity via the secondary transaction.
Overall, Exotel has raised over $87 Mn to date and counts the likes of Blume Ventures, A91 Partners and 360 One among its backers.
On the financial front, Exotel narrowed its net loss by more than 60% to INR 43.3 Cr in FY24 from INR 109.4 Cr in the previous year. Operating revenue saw a modest 6% growth to INR 444.5 Cr during the year under review from INR 419.6 Cr in FY23.
