Social media platform X suffered a major outage this evening, leaving thousands of users unable to access the platform through its website as well as app.
The platform showed an error message, “Something went wrong. Try reloading.”
According to outage monitoring platform Downdetector, user reports began to spike sharply after 6 PM IST, with more than 2,000 complaints logged in minutes. Prior to the outage, activity had remained largely stable throughout the day.
“User reports indicate possible problems at X (Twitter),” said DownDetector in a message.
“My Twitter, except DM, is down. Is anyone else having issues this morning? If you see this message, let me know. I’d like to know if I can see your response,” one user wrote.
X has not released any official statement on the disruption so far.
This is the second such incident involving X in the past 24 hours. Yesterday, users across the world faced issues in accessing the app and the website.
According to Downdetector, over 5,000 users globally reported problems with the microblogging platform yesterday.
“X is aware some of our users are experiencing performance issues on the platform today,” X said in a statement yesterday. “We are experiencing a data center outage and the team is actively working to remediate the issue.”
According to a report by Wired, a fire at a data centre in Hillsboro in US’ Oregon was responsible for the outage. The facility, which is leased by X, called for emergency responders to extinguish the blaze.
Notably, X also suffered an outage in March this year.
