Info Edge’s board has approved an investment of INR 100 Cr in its wholly owned subsidiary, Redstart Labs to meet Redstart’s capital needs, fund potential investments and cover general purposes.

Under the deal, Info Edge will take 100 Mn equity shares of Redstart at a face value of INR 10 each. The deal is expected to fructify within three months. Given that Info Edge already owns 100% stake of Redstart, it will continue to remain a wholly-owned subsidiary.

For context, Redstart invests in startups across deeptech subsectors and SaaS. Its portfolio includes names like Unbox Robotics, BrainSight AI, Skylark Drones, ePlaneCo, CynLr, among a list of 10 investments.

Notably, its books show no turnover for the three years to March 2025, but a reported PAT of INR 1.36 Cr and a net worth of INR 16.18 Cr as on 31 March 2025.

This is a material increase from the INR 30 Cr infusion Info Edge had authorised for Redstart in October 2024, when the company planned to buy 30 Lakh compulsorily convertible debentures (CCDs) worth INR 100 each. The latest move replaces that earlier plan with a larger equity investment.

A larger capital allocation to Redstart signals the group is consolidating a vehicle for investments and product development, effectively increasing the war-chest it can deploy into tech opportunities.

This also aligns with its broader strategy of backing early-stage tech and AI startups. Redstart serves as one of its key investment vehicles, alongside Info Edge Ventures.

The company has been an active investor in AI-focused startups, including Pascal AI Labs, a fintech SaaS startup automating investment research workflows, and Zwayam Digital, which uses AI to enhance digital recruitment tools. Portfolio company Attentive.ai has also seen strong follow-on funding from top investors.

Earlier this year, Info Edge also announced a new INR 1,000 Cr venture fund aimed at startups in AI, SaaS and deeptech, to be channelled through Redstart Labs and other entities.

The fresh INR 100 Cr capital push into Redstart is expected to expand the company’s investment capacity, enabling it to participate more aggressively in the growing AI and tech ecosystem.

Shares of Info Edge closed 1.32% lower at INR 1,361 on the BSE on Monday.
